Could you please describe with one word the US?

The United States has a different meaning and feeling depending on your cultural background. Where are you in the world? As an immigrant, I have my definition. I wanted to expand on this simple question. Could you describe with one word the US? I used social media such a Facebook to collect comments and emails.

I collected over 300 words, and I installed 50 in a public space at Green Station Orange Line in Boston, MA. The installation’s an analog version of a word cloud.

While doing the artist in residency in New Mexico, Santa Fe, I could extend my project into their community. New Mexico and particularly Santa Fe are unique because of their mixed cultural roots. I mainly worked with Middle school students at De Vargas School. They chose their word and then the materials to build it on the floor. I took the pictures and then printed them to pull all the words together. The collection of observations made a co-created story of what the United States means for them.
